The Trade and Working Capital Operations Manager is responsible for managing CNB's Letters of Credit and related Trade Operations activities, including Standby Letters of Credit, Commercial Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections, and operational servicing oversight for Trade Payables, Receivables Finance, and related Working Capital Finance programs as implemented. The role is responsible for oversight of residential portfolio servicing activities performed by external vendor(s), ensuring adherence to applicable regulatory, investor, agency, contractual, Bank policy, and servicing requirements. The position manages and directs assigned staff and is accountable for operational governance, technical expertise, quality control, staff development, vendor oversight, and cross-functional coordination to ensure transactions and servicing activities are processed, monitored, documented, and escalated accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable rules, policies, approvals, and control expectations. The position exercises discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance related to operational risk management, issue resolution, process improvement, resource allocation, and the effective administration of the department.
What You'll Do:
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Trade & Working Capital Operations function, including standby and commercial Letters of Credit, Trade Loans, and Trade Payables & Receivables activities, including issuance, amendments, document examination, discrepancy handling, claims and draws, payments, expiries, cancellations, disbursements and advances, booking, reporting, and related servicing activities.
- Manage and direct assigned staff and operational functions, including workload allocation, performance management, coaching, training, cross-training, succession planning, regulatory accountability, and professional development to ensure appropriate coverage, operational continuity, and achievement of departmental objectives.
- Review and approve complex transaction activity and operational exceptions within delegated authority, including document examination decisions, discrepancy resolutions, amendments, renewals, draws, cancellations, payment requests, and other matters requiring management review.
- Oversee operational controls, procedures, quality assurance activities, exception management, escalation routines, audit readiness, regulatory examination support, and remediation efforts to maintain a controlled operating environment and compliance with applicable requirements.
- Ensure required credit, regulatory, legal, compliance, and operational approvals are obtained and activities are administered in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, delegated authorities, and control requirements.
- Manage day-to-day vendor relationships and monitor adherence to quality standards, service levels, contractual obligations, control expectations, regulatory requirements, and Bank policies; provide leadership with updates on vendor performance and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Manage and supervise oversight of residential portfolio servicing activities performed by external vendor(s), including review of servicing performance, reporting, service levels, exception trends, remediation efforts, and issue escalation.
- Ensure vendor compliance with applicable regulatory, investor, agency, contractual, Bank policy, and servicing requirements through coordination with Compliance, Risk, Legal, Vendor Management, business partners, and vendor contacts, as appropriate.
- Lead and direct operational efficiency, digitization, automation, and process improvement initiatives that support scalability, control effectiveness, service delivery, and alignment with business objectives.
- Partner with Product, Technology, PMO, Credit, Compliance, Finance, Treasury, Legal, Audit, and vendors on Trade Finance initiatives, system implementations, workflow design, testing activities, operating model enhancements, and process improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance for complex Standby Letters of Credit, Commercial Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections, Direct-Pay Letters of Credit, syndicated Letters of Credit, counter/counter-counter standby Letters of Credit, and other approved Trade Finance products and activities.
- Direct operational risk management and issue resolution activities, including identification of control gaps, evaluation of operational risks, development of corrective actions, and escalation of significant issues to management and stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Prepare, review, and present operational reporting, metrics, risk summaries, issue updates, vendor oversight updates, and management information related to Trade & Working Capital Operations activities.
- Maintain and enhance procedures, control documentation, job aids, training materials, and governance practices supporting Trade & Working Capital Operations and related servicing oversight activities.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
