The Director of Corporate is responsible for the management of the Corporate Banking business segment. Ensures adherence to the bank's credit policies and actively monitors portfolio quality. Through leadership and motivation, includes but is not limited to working with the other business segments to maximize deposit growth, fee income opportunities, loan growth, cross sales and referrals to other banking units. Structuring incentive campaigns, staff development; tracking results, developing sales marketing plans; establishing production goals, making business development calls with branch and lending personnel; working with Marketing Department to create advertising and marketing materials; evaluating staff members and seeking involvement in key community activities and business organizations. Ensures Bank's business segment and profitability goals are met. Participates in business development and expansion of client relationship activities. Acts as the primary advisor for a portfolio of corporate banking clients who need financial products and services to meet their financial needs.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Consistently meets and exceeds individual and/or team sales goals, including but not limited to deposit, loans and other, as applicable.
Responsible for ensuring appropriate loan pipeline management and resource allocation to deal flow within and between the LOBs.
Is the primary resource to the LOB Relationship Managers for loan opportunity discussions, prescreen meetings and loan structuring.
Responsible for all aspects of loan approval process including coordination with line of business management and other product partners.
Develops action plans for addressing client issues and credit requests, oversees the pool of Risk Officers who are responsible for the credit request reports, approves loans up to Board-delegated credit authority level, and implements the approved requests.
Has client contact to lead the loan sales process including all aspects of loan negotiation.
Effective communication internally and externally; will be expected to lead joint sales calls with LOB partners and relationship managers.
Demonstrates broad knowledge of the client’s industry; is aware of benchmarks, standards, methodologies and structures; has up to date knowledge of client industry practices and processes; keeps abreast of trends and development.
Assesses risk tolerances within the loan portfolio, approve loan level risk ratings, and oversees the analysis of relevant credit opportunities.
Responsible for ensuring risk management and portfolio processes are executed consistently, efficiently and effectively.
Responsible for ensuring appropriate governance is in place to adequately monitor the portfolio.
Works with internal and external legal counsel to assess pertinent legal issues within each individual loan request. If necessary, will oversee written resolution plans based on the assessment of risk.
Assesses any increasing risk issues within the portfolio, and delegates to appropriate internal partners if risk tolerances are breached.
Held accountable for asset quality by monitoring loan portfolio performance reports including collateral and customer concentrations, industry exposures, policy exceptions and criticized loans.
Prepares quarterly reports, including concrete action plans for prompt and effective credit resolution.
Understands the importance of leading in a matrix environment that combines both product management and line of business accountability.
Utilizes resources and tools to coach the client management process behaviors of the team and instill the discipline of this process throughout the geographic footprint of the bank.
Good interpersonal skills are required to deal with banking professionals with various skill sets, risk management staff, clients and auditors.
Credit training and private banking experience (lending or credit) is beneficial.
Product development within the field is useful.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
Must be proficient with infra-structure for centralized consumer/small business underwriting, underwriting practices, documentation and servicing issues.
Good leadership abilities and strong negotiating skills are required.
Possesses strong organizational and project management skills.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.
