Overview

The International LOC Specialist is responsible for issuing, amending, advising and confirming commercial and standby letters of credit, document examination, and collections in accordance with organizational policies and other guidelines. Provides service and support to clients and account officers on the types, requirements, and issues of commercial and standby letters of credit, collections, and other financial instruments for international trade. 

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for processing, documenting, issuing, examining, authorizing the language and executing Commercial, Performance and Standby Letter of Credits

  • Responsible for reviewing export documentation against the Letter of Credit Terms. Monitor incoming funds received for export bills and instruct the negotiating/collecting Banks to take the necessary actions if payments are not received.

  • Handles incoming and outgoing Documentary Collections.

  • Prepares Bank correspondence on matters pertaining to confirmation, acceptance or rejection of Letter of Credits.

  • Prepares renewals and increases for Letter of Credits

  • Provides guidance to internal clients pertaining to Letter of Credits.

  • Examines and approves requests for EXIM Bank and other Insurance Policies

  • Performs OFAC checks against all names in Letter of Credit and Collection documentation.

  • Reviews system enhancements for relevancy, usage, and impact (Special Project/Planning).

  • Works closely with other employees, managers, and clients in troubleshooting and researching issues to provide solutions.

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned or required for efficient operation of the department.

  • Performs audits and quality assurance testing to ensure proper controls in relation to Bank’s LC’s are in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Bank.

  • Participates in cross-training duties and special projects.

  • Handles information with strict confidentiality.

  • Provides client service; performs research for timely resolve of client inquiries/complaints.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years experience in collateral control (Accounting, Operations, Client Service), with extensive knowledge of residential and commercial loan documentation, Loan Collateral requirements and terminology.
  • Broad PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Internet) and use of office machines (calculator, facsimile, etc.).

  • Good mathematical skills required.

  • Ability to handle high volume production; quick and accurate output.

  • Able to work in a team environment.

  • Accomplishment of goals, accuracy and regulatory compliance are critical functions of this job.

  • May include prior involvement in Commercial Lending in an International Banking environment.

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of general banking concepts including products and services.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish harmonious relationship with the clients.

  • Strong managerial ability and expert knowledge of letters of credit, trade and banker’s acceptances, foreign collections, foreign exchange and foreign currency.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
